Electric Basses

1970 Fender Telecaster Bass (blonde)

One of the nicest Fender Basses I’ve owned.  The frets are worn a bit so it’s easy to slide your fingers up and down the neck.  I bought it after I saw a picture of Billy Cox(Band of Gypsy’s) playing one.  Billy is one of my favorite bass players along with Jack Bruce (Cream).  I use D'Addario ESXL170 XL Nickel Bass Double Ball Long strings.

1974 Fender Mustang Bass (walnut)
A decent short scale bass I bought to fit in my trunk.  Problem I always had with basses is that my trunk is really small.  Despite it’s size, it plays like most Fender Basses and it records well.  I use D'Addario ESXL170 XL Nickel Bass Double Ball Long strings.

199(?) reissue Fender Bass VI (sunburst)

This is the baddest of the bad as far as stringed instruments go.  I’ve heard them called baritone guitars.  The Beatles used these when McCartney would play piano.  The bass sounds are pretty cool but it’s a six string so deep, fat-sounding chords can be played.  The strings are Fender’s VI string set.

1967 Gibson EBO

This is the third I've owned but only the second with a mute.  Short Scale bass.  Nice weight.  Damn good shape for something so old.  Is has the original soft shell case which cleaned up nicely with some warm water and a fresh dish rag.  The rag is now on it's way to Staten Island.

Epiphone Jack Cassidy Bass

The largest bass I own.  It has a really nice neck for a new instrument.  Plays well and has an oversized case that could fit this bass and the EBO with room for strings, several pedals and lunch for 6 people.  Has two stickers on the back of the headstock.  One says that it was made in Korea.  The other one says that it was set-up and inspected in the USA!  The exclamation point does it for me.
